Overview

Akasa Airlines, India’s youngest airline, set out to redefine air travel with a customer-first digital strategy. To support their ambitious launch, Akasa partnered with Triveous to develop a mission-critical technology platform that could scale effortlessly, provide a seamless user experience, and integrate with complex airline infrastructure.

Triveous was responsible for building the entire digital backbone—an ultra-scalable backend system and intuitive mobile applications—ensuring Akasa could go live without delays and offer best-in-class digital touchpoints to its customers.

The Challenge

Launching an airline from scratch brings enormous operational, regulatory, and technical challenges. Akasa faced several critical demands:

  • Massive Scale Requirements: Akasa needed to handle hundreds of thousands of requests per second across flight booking, check-ins, and operational systems.
  • Complex Integrations: Integration with Navitaire’s reservation system involved over 800 GraphQL APIs, requiring sophisticated mapping, orchestration, and error handling.
  • High Financial Risk: A delay in launch could lead to financial losses exceeding ₹1.2 crore per day, making technical readiness non-negotiable.
  • Zero Room for Downtime: With a public launch and government oversight, the systems had to be flawless from day one.
  • Mobile Experience: Akasa’s mobile applications needed to deliver a smooth, reliable experience across both iOS and Android devices, integrated with all backend operations.
Our Solution

Triveous designed and implemented a resilient and high-performance digital platform with two primary components: a robust backend system and user-centric mobile applications.

  • Backend Infrastructure:
    • Architected a scalable, cloud-native backend capable of handling concurrent user loads and high traffic bursts.
    • Implemented fault-tolerant design patterns with intelligent caching, retries, and load balancing.
    • Ensured seamless integration with Navitaire’s API ecosystem using a microservices architecture.
  • Mobile Applications:
    • Developed native mobile apps for iOS and Android that support real-time flight data, booking, check-in, and ticket management.
    • Designed for performance and responsiveness, even in low network conditions.
    • Integrated features like digital boarding passes, flight notifications, and account management.
  • Quality and Performance Engineering:
    • Introduced automated testing pipelines, including API, functional, and regression testing.
    • Conducted extensive load testing and chaos engineering to validate platform resilience.
Key Highlights
  • Integrated over 800+ GraphQL APIs with complete reliability
  • Delivered intuitive mobile interfaces that elevate customer satisfaction
  • Used modern cloud tools (AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD) for rapid iteration and scale
  • Ensured security and compliance with aviation and data protection standards
Impact
  • Flawless Public Launch: Akasa went live on schedule without any technical disruptions, meeting all standards set by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and DGCA.
  • Operational Excellence: The platform processed hundreds of thousands of concurrent transactions with 99.99% uptime.
  • Cost Avoidance: Avoided launch delays and associated financial losses, preserving brand credibility and stakeholder confidence.
  • Scalability: Built a technology stack ready for national and global expansion.
  • Customer Delight: Delivered a smooth, reliable digital experience through highly-rated mobile apps.
